On Saturday, May 7th, the ROCORI Ratcheteers traveled to Williams Arena at the University of Minnesota campus to compete in their 4th State Competition. They played eight qualification matches beginning at 8:30 am and continuing until 3:30 pm. At the end of quals, they had a record of 4 wins and 4 losses, placing them in 15th place out of the 36 teams present. After many minutes of tense waiting, they were chosen by the number 1 alliance (Captain: 3630-Stampede and 1st Pick: 2052-KnightKrawler). The alliance succeeded through Semi-finals, beating the number 4 alliance and continued on to Finals where they competed against the number 3 alliance. The match was extremely close, but due to an unfortunate fall while climbing, they lost. After urgent repairs, the team rushed out to play their next match. The robot was unable to move during parts of the match, sadly causing them and their alliance members to lose, placing them in 2nd place.
Overall, the 2022 season was not only successful but also provided many new challenges and activities where the team learned all sorts of new skills and life lessons. None of this could have been accomplished without the assistance of many incredible adults including coaches, mentors, and family members. Thank you to everyone who helped the team and may the upcoming seasons be just as enjoyable and exciting!
